Dryer Installation, Pulborough

Kiln Control Services have completed a dryer installation project at the Ibstock Brick Ltd, Laybrook site in Pulborough comprising of a new chamber dryer which complements their existing 6 chambers. The dryer is 25 metres in length, 6 metres wide, and 5 metres in height. It was constructed using concrete block walls within a main steel structure that features a reinforced roof to give a substantial main structure lined with insulation to the walls to reduce loss of heat and humidity. The chamber houses 8 off roto cone air distributors utilising waste heat from the adjacent tunnel kiln, with a top up package burner to use as required. A dump stack was also installed to alleviate any waste heat not required through the seven drying chambers. The dryer is controlled using a remote panel suite containing PLC, MCC sections complete with HMI touchscreen.

The existing tunnel kiln combustion system was also upgraded to meet current EN regulations, maintaining the required temperature profile, and controlling the available waste heat to meet the requirements of the seven drying chambers.
